Theater Study and Analysis Wrapping Up Phase One – Hometown Daily News

by: Scott McCaulley

The Branson Board of Alderman hear an update from the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB on the evaluating the health of the Theater Industry in Branson.

One of the components of the 5 in Five Initiative the Chamber began in 2018, the evaluation began in September with a series of Focus Groups and Surveys getting input on the thoughts of those in and around the Business and General Part of the Branson Community. That phase of the process is wrapping up this week with the next step scheduled to be an analysis of the Branson Theater Industry from around the country.

Besides the survey, the group hired by the Chamber to facilitate the study, Sound Diplomacy, came to Branson in October to help facilitate the Focus Groups as well as attend many of the shows in the region. A Branson Show Task Force was also appointed to help facilitate the research.

After the presentation from Grant Sloan, Vice President of Member Engagement for the Chamber, discussion among the Alderman included concerns stated by both Alderman Bill Skains and Larry Milton about the Tax Revenues from the Show Industry being down around $400,000 from information collected so far from 2019 while other components of the overall Tourism Industry are up. They hoped the study would supply some answers to the reason for that drop.

Recommendations developed from the survey are expected later this year.
