Lighthouse Memorial for Duck Boat Victims Withdrawn for Now – Hometown Daily News

A proposal put forth by the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors in regards to a Lighthouse Memorial for the Victims of the 2018 Duck Boat Tragedy on Table Rock Lake is off for now.

At Tuesday’s Branson Board of Alderman Meeting, a Bill postponed from last January for a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to a donation of a Lighthouse Memorial Monument for the Old School Park was brought back up for discussion. A letter was read into the record from the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors stating that the grant they had planned to use for the project was no longer available and they decided to not take the lead in the project but did leave open the possibility of working with the City if they decided to move forward at a later date.

The Alderman did vote down the original Bill from last year with no discussion on a possible future memorial.

The Board did give initial approval on the proposal in 2018 but decided to hold off on moving forward when public input indicated many felt the timing was not right for the memorial just months after the Duck Boat Accident that killed 17 people on Table Rock Lake in July of 2018.
